Location Setting.. What Do You Think?

Hiya, myself and Dean thought we would give you an insight to what our possible location would be. We have a choice of two and we would really like your opinion on what one you think would be a good setting for our murder scene.

Choose between this one...

Or this one...

Preliminary Task

So here is our Preliminary Task! We showed it to the class and received some mixed feedback, we realised we could have included a lot more. We could have included more dialogue and shot-reverse-shot's to show the change of person when talking. I think some sound would have been good and made the sequence more exciting.

But we are generally happy with the different shots we used and we know that we can apply all the feedback into our main task which we cant wait to start on.

If you want to leave any further feedback then feel free and we would be much appreciated.

Technical Fault

Hiya everyone, sorry I haven't been able to upload anything, there was a problem with my blog and it wasn't allowing me to have any pictures up so I had to restart everything and make a new blog.

I will be blogging regularly from now on as everything is back to normal and in working order!

Independent Research On Horror Movie Killer's & Weapons

Hi everyone, myself and Dean have been trying to decide on what our murderer's outfit would be, due to the fact we don't actually see the murderer we do see his hands to we was thinking if having him in a pair of leather gloves to give off the affect he is different and dressed in black so that he blends on with the darkness of the night and because he is the 'outsider' he would look different in a pair of black gloves. This also supports our idea of he doesn't want to be found out so he doesn't want to leave any fingerprints.

Research on killer's from other movies;

Halloween

Halloween's murderer Michael Myers wears a mask over his face at all times. Although the police know who he is and they can easily catch him, he still feels comfortable wearing this mask as its what he wore when he was younger and murdered his family except his mother and baby sister. In a way, this is how Michael feels comfortable when he kills his victims.

His weapon is a large
kitchen knife and this is what he uses on all of his victims. Sometimes he uses his hands for strangulation but he is more known for his big, sharp choice of weapon. Michael wants to show his pain of all the years he has been locked away by killing people so by using a weapon like this would make a painful cut to someones body and could draw a lot of blood.

Scream
Screams murderer's - there are different ones in every movie - all wear the same costume. In the film, the mask is known as Ghost Face and in all four movies this is what the killer would wear. Due to the film being centred around one girl - Sidney Prescott - the killer will kill everyone around her that mean something to her to build more tension and make her more scared as when will her turn be. So the killer wears a full cloak to hide underneath clothing, a mask to hide their face and hair and black boots. They also hide their voice when calling by using a monitor that changes their voice completely.

The weapon is a smaller knife than Halloween, although the killer does sometimes choose to first cause damage to the vitims body and then kill them in some other way. This makes it more easy as the killer doesn't actually want to be caught in this movie so it is a lot more easier to hide.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

The killer in I Know What You Did Last Summer wears a fisherman's jacket and hat which helps hide his identity from his victims. It also helps build tension with the audience as they will be wondering when they find out who the killer is. He wears his collar up to hide his face and it ties in with the fact he wants to play games with his victims before he kills them.

The killers weapon is a hook which would come across as being very brutal. You would associate a hook with a fisherman which links to the killers outfit and it would also be a very gory way to kill someone and would also make the audience squirm.

What Title Could We Have?

Hiya guy's

So know that we've finalised our storyline we would like your feedback and what you think would work well as our films MAIN TITLE.

So if you've been following my planning you will know that my storyline is; there is a serial killer on the loose who is killing specific victims, the girls he's killing are all linked and what we show is a girl meeting her boyfriend but she is running late so she has to take the shortcut through the alleyway. She is being followed the whole time and then comes across a body. She then finds an identity card that reveals the girl who is dead went to the same college as the other girl. When she then pulls out her I.D card and realises she could be next we hear the killer run up behind her and have a flash back of that girl bullying him. Just when our killer raises the knife and is about to kill her, she screams and it then cuts to the title which we need your help to decide on!

If you have any music/sound idea's please feel free to also add them..
The title choices are;

-You're Next
-Anonymous
-Unidentified
-Undisclosed
-I Still Remember

If you want to play around with the titles that would be really interesting and we are looking forward to seeing what you think!

Thanks! :)

Step 4 Film Planning

Right then guys.. this is my FINAL brainstormed step! As a group we have worked so hard on Step 4 and made sure we didn't miss a thing out!

Let me know if you like my idea!

So as you can see, Step 4 contains a lot more writing due to the fact this is now our storyline laid out. Its very detailed and is very 'step by step' on whats going to happen.
All thats left to do now is decide on the weapon, title and we will be going to the set location and taking   pictures/videos showing the area and its advantages and disadvantages.

Independent Research On Horror Movies

Hi everyone, just to show you what movies I have been researching and what I found most interesting! Please feel free to comment and give me some feedback :)

 Halloween
This movie has many conventions of a horror movie which made it very interesting and helpful to research. Although Michael Myers - the killer - is not looking for revenge in such a way he is still killing a lot of people, this happens in all of his movies due to the fact that he never actually dies at the end of all of them. Michael has escaped from a mental institution to find his sister after so many years. The police know that it is him killing people they can just never seem to find him and when it comes down to they are near him, they can never catch him. With the creepy music that plays in every movie it helps me with ideas of how I should portray the killer, whether he is creepy and walks after his victims to build tension or whether he is like a killer from another movie like Scream who just gets it 'over and done with'.

I'm adding a link of the theme song of Halloween, feel fre to comment on what you think and feel. If you have anything you think I could add and consider for the conventions please let me know!

I know what you did last summer
This movie helps me with the fact there is a serial killer on the loose seeking revenge on a group of teenagers who did a bad thing one summer. The killer uses this as his advantage to scare the group and then kills them one by one leaving a few survivors at the end. The second movie - I still know what you did last summer - is near enough based on the same thing. I liked the title of this movie especially as I think I can play around with it and come up with something similar for my own movie that will give of the message straight away.

I'm adding a link to show you one of the parts of the film, let me know what you think. Its a bit brutal, and only watch the first few minutes!

Scream
This movie would most probably be on everyone's list! Being so popular in the serial killer department, I used this film for a lot of information. With all 4 movies being based on different serial killers who are in some way looking for revenge - Scream 1 having Sydney's boyfriend seeking revenge for her dead mothers affair with his father, Scream 2 having Sydney's now dead ex-boyfiend from the first movie's mother being the killer seeking revenge for Sydney killing her son, Scream 3 being Sydney's long lost brother seeking revenge on the fact he was rejected by their mother, and Scream 4 being Sydney's cousin seekng revenge for all the fame Sydney got. This has many conventions of a horror movie and it helped me a great deal on the fact of how to portray the killer is a serial killer at the beginning of my movie.

I'm adding a clip to show a scene from Scream, I want to show how the killer plays with his victims before they die to build tension for both the victim and the audience.

Amusement

This film was one of my main researches. The film is about a man who is after 3 girls from his childhood who used to make fun of him. He get's them into situations that makes it easy to kidknapp them and perform different forms of toture upon each victim. My film idea is based on a killer seeking revenge on his childhood peers due to the fact they used to bully him and reject him in many ways.
